1. Computer Aided Design and Analysis Lab
This lab aims to train the students in solid modelling, surface modelling, assembly modelling, mechanism design and drafting. The latest version of modelling software 3D experience is used in the lab. CAD Lab is also equipped with structural and CFD analysis softwares like ANSYS which helps students to conduct numerical analysis on complex structures and fluid flow problems.

2. Fluid Mechanics & Machines Lab
This lab is mainly focussed to develop a platform where the students can enhance their engineering knowledge in the fluid mechanics domain by applying their theoretical knowledge acquired. Both theoretical and experimental aspects are investigated with a particular emphasis on the industrial applications such as the design, the installation and the operation of hydraulic machines. Measurements of critical Performance parameters like efficiency, flow rate etc. of various hydraulic machines such as turbines, pumps are also measured in this lab.

3. Thermal Engineering Lab
The lab includes the study of systems & components of IC Engines and study of dynamometers used in engine testing. The lab also provides the experience on; testing the performance of IC engines and testing of fuels & lubricants, which includes the determination of their flash and fire points, viscosity and calorific values.

- 4. Mechanical Engineering lab/ Mechanical Systems Lab
- In mechanical engineering lab mainly experiments done based on the heat transfer and dynamics of machinery. The lab includes the study of systems related to various modes of heat transfer, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. The lab also aims to educate students on various governors, gyroscope, and vibration apparatus.

DEPARTMENT LIBRARY
The Department of Mechanical Engineering has exclusive Department Library which consist of Reference books, E- books, Journals, Book chapters, Project thesis and access to online digital resources. The volume references available for different specializations like Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Thermal and Heat Transfer Engineering, Nano Sciences and Technology, Artificial intelligence, MEMS, Renewable Energy sources, Optimization etc. The Department library also provides information regarding the co-curricular activities, membership details about the various professional associations like ASME. The students are motivated to utilize the resources in the Department Library to the maximum extent possible for enhancing their subject knowledge leading to research innovations and product development.

ASME STUDENT CHAPTER AT MGMCET WAS INAUGURATED ON 30/08/2019.
TARGET GROUP: ALL MECHANICAL STUDENTS AND FACULTIES.
Inauguration of ASME student chapter was held on 30-08-2019, 2:00 pm at AC seminar hall. The inauguration was done by Mr NINAN C.S. General Manager (Retired) BPCL, KOCHI.
Welcome address was done by HOD Mechanical Engineering. Presidential address by Dr T.K. Mani Principal MGMCET. Then meeting was addressed by Prof. K.V. Abraham, Academic Director.
RESOURCE PERSON: Mr NINAN C.S, GENERAL MANAGER, B.P.C.L. KOCHI
The ASME student chapter of MGMCET conducted a motivational talk titled ‘THEORY OF FAILURE’ in seminar hall from 2:00pm – 4:00 pm. The resource person proved to be a source of motivation to students who gave encouraging messages from his own life and inspired students to be a self-motivator. He discussed the importance of positive thinking and attitude which brings optimism into the life and such constructive changes can make a person brighter and successful. The program helped students to be guided by a positive mind driven by self-motivation.
MECHANICAL ASSOCIATION PROGRAMMES
1. Webinar on future Era of Robotics
The mechanical engineering student association of MGMCET organized a webinar in future Era of Robotics on 14-9-2020, Prof .Sunil Paul, CEO Srishti robotics Pvt. Ltd .guided the webinar session. Students from the mechanical department utilized the opportunity and they got many ideas about robotics field and its future scope.
2. Webinar on Automotive Competitions in india
The mechanical engineering student association of MGMCET organized a webinar in Automotive competitions in India on 13-10-2020,Mr. Aditya R, CEO D-SIM and Mr. Joyel S .Faculty D-SIM, guided the webinar session. Students from the mechanical department utilized the opportunity.
3. Seminar on Antidrug Generation
The mechanical engineering student association of MGMCET organized a seminar on Anti-Drug Generation, 16-7-2021, S I, Ramamangalam guided the webinar session.
